1. What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Local storage works in a similar way and keeps a value in your browser until it is deleted. Both are used to remember something between one page and the next.
2. What this site uses
isacarmo.com sets no advertising cookies and uses only the storage it needs to function. There are two entries in your browser, and both are local storage rather than cookies.
- Cookie notice preference (local storage, isacarmo_cookie_notice): remembers that you have seen and dismissed the cookie notice, so it does not appear on every page. Written when you click "Got it".
- Session token (local storage, base44_access_token): keeps the site owner signed in to the private publishing area at isacarmo.com/admin. It is set only after signing in, and visitors who never sign in never have it.
- Server and security records: our hosting provider processes the technical data required to deliver a page and to block abusive traffic. These are not used to build a profile of you.
Typefaces are the only third-party request a normal visit makes: Fraunces and Inter are served by Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), which receives the visitor’s IP address and browser details in order to deliver the files. That request sets no cookie. If you prefer not to make it, block fonts.googleapis.com in your browser and the site falls back to system fonts.
3. What we do not use
No Google Analytics, no Meta or TikTok pixels, no advertising identifiers, no session recording, no cross-site behavioural profiling. Newsletter opens and clicks are not tracked to build profiles of individual readers. We do count aggregate traffic and how many subscriptions and enquiries arrive, to see whether the site is working; those counts are not tied to a profile of you and are never used for advertising.
4. Do you need to consent?
Storage that is strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for does not require consent under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations or the EU ePrivacy Directive. That is why the site asks for nothing more than an acknowledgement: the only entry it writes for an ordinary visitor is the one that remembers you dismissed the notice.
If a non-essential tool is ever added, it will not load until you actively agree, and this page will list it before it goes live.
5. How to remove them
You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings, usually under Privacy or Site data. Removing the session token simply signs you out of the private area; removing the notice preference makes the notice appear again.
If you use a private browsing window, the browser discards this storage when you close it.
6. Changes and contact
If the storage we use changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
