Privacy Policy

What personal data this site collects, why, who else sees it, and the rights you can exercise in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States.

Last updated 29 October 2026

1. Who is responsible for your data

isacarmo.com is an editorial publication and copywriting service run by Isa Carmo. For the purposes of the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and applicable United States privacy laws, Isa Carmo is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to hello@isacarmo.com. We answer within 30 days.

2. What we collect

We only collect what the service actually needs:

  • Newsletter subscription: your email address, the date and time of your subscription, whether the subscription is active or unsubscribed, and the page you subscribed from.
  • Enquiry form: your name, company name, email address and phone number, the description you write, plus the date you accepted this policy and the terms.
  • Business contact data: when we approach a company directly about a rewrite, the professional details of the person to contact, such as name, role, company, business email address, phone number, website or LinkedIn page, taken from what the company publishes itself.
  • Aggregate usage data: page views and counts of subscriptions and enquiries, used only to see whether the site is working. They are not used to build a profile of you or for advertising.
  • Technical data: the minimum information needed to serve and protect the site, such as your browser request and the date of access.
  • Essential storage: a small local storage entry that remembers your cookie notice preference.

We do not collect payment card details through this website, we do not buy contact lists, and we do not use tracking pixels, advertising identifiers or cross-site behavioural profiles.

3. Why we use it, and our lawful bases

Sending the newsletter you asked for: performance of a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) UK/EU GDPR).

Answering an enquiry and preparing a proposal: steps taken at your request before entering a contract (Article 6(1)(b)), and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).

Direct outreach to companies that could commission a rewrite: our legitimate interest in offering a business service to professional contacts whose role relates to product pages or e-commerce (Article 6(1)(f)). Every message carries an opt-out link, and an opt-out is honoured immediately and permanently.

Measuring traffic and how the newsletter performs: our legitimate interest in understanding whether the publication works (Article 6(1)(f)), using aggregate counts that are not used to build a profile of you.

Keeping records of consent, handling unsubscribes and defending legal claims: compliance with a legal obligation and our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(f)).

Essential security and fraud prevention: our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and abuse-free (Article 6(1)(f)).

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The site sets no advertising cookies. It keeps two essential local storage entries, one that remembers your cookie notice preference and one that keeps the site owner signed in to the private publishing area. The typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which receives each visitor’s IP address to deliver the files. Full detail, including how to clear everything, is in our Cookie Policy at isacarmo.com/cookies.

5. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share it only with service providers that are necessary to run the publication:

  • Resend, our email delivery provider, which transmits the newsletter and stores delivery records on our behalf.
  • Base44, which provides the hosting, database, aggregate traffic measurement and authentication for this website.
  • Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used on the site and therefore receives the IP address and browser details of each visitor when the page loads.
  • Professional advisers, insurers or authorities where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.

Each provider is bound to process the data only on our instructions and only for the purpose we engaged them for.

6. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses together with any supplementary measures the provider has put in place.

7. How long we keep it

Newsletter records are kept while your subscription is active, and for up to 24 months after you unsubscribe so that we can honour your opt-out. Enquiry records are kept for up to 24 months after the last contact. Essential technical logs are kept for the short period needed for security and troubleshooting. Anything no longer needed is deleted.

8. Your rights in the UK and the EU

You can ask us, at any time, to:

  • Confirm whether we hold data about you, and give you a copy of it (access).
  • Correct anything inaccurate (rectification).
  • Delete your data where we no longer need it (erasure).
  • Restrict or object to a processing activity based on legitimate interests (restriction and objection).
  • Receive your data in a portable format (portability).
  • Withdraw consent for the newsletter, without affecting anything done before the withdrawal.

Write to hello@isacarmo.com to exercise any of them. We answer within one month, and we never charge for a request. You also have the right to complain to your supervisory authority: in the United Kingdom that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), and in Spain the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). We would appreciate the chance to resolve it with you first.

9. Your rights in the United States

If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, to obtain a copy of it, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

To exercise a US state privacy right, email hello@isacarmo.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We may ask for information to verify your identity, and an authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission. You can also opt out of marketing email with the unsubscribe link in every edition.

10. Marketing choices

Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and the request takes effect immediately. Our emails identify the sender, carry an accurate subject line and keep a functioning reply-to address, in line with the United States CAN-SPAM Act and the United Kingdom Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. We only send marketing email to people who asked for it, and to business contacts with a genuine business interest in our services. Outreach messages carry their own opt-out link, and opting out stops any further contact to that address.

11. Children

This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to hello@isacarmo.com and we will delete it.

12. Automated decisions and security

We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling with legal or similarly significant effects. Data is stored on access-controlled infrastructure, transmitted over encrypted connections, and only shared with the processors listed above.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority within the deadlines set by the UK GDPR and the applicable US state laws.

13. Changes to this policy

If the way we handle data changes, we update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes that affect newsletter subscribers are announced in the newsletter itself.
